What if your recreation vehicle needs parts?
Because your motor home or trailer is a vehicle at one time or another it
will need repair.
So I will list some places where you can get parts, I will endeavor to rate
them but unless I use them I can't do justice to the rating.
Are you a do it yourselfer? As a long time mechanic I find it extremely
beneficial to my wallet to do as much as I can myself. Now there are some
things that you can not do yourself, heck if you mess it up it may cost three or
four times the original repair to fix what you mess up.
One of the places for parts I have found for GMC Motor Homes from 1973 to 1978 is
Alex Sirum GMC Motorhomes. Located in
Florida, shipping to say Washington may be expensive and will take time, but if
they are the only place you can find the parts then you need to make the choice
to replace with original parts or go to the local car part store. The owners are
very knowledgeable and courteous. They were very helpful in my quest to replace
the instrument panel lights and the temperature, oil pressure, and fuel gage
cluster. (I have tired to clean up the old one but don't hold out any hope for
the gages to actually work and for forty dollars I don't think I can go wrong.
If the one I fixed works I can keep the new one as a spare or maybe sell it to
someone else).
With the search for quality parts I am always finding new web sites to help
me get the Palm Beach back in to shape, here are some I have found in the last
year:
appliedgmc.com
Cinnabar
Arizona R.V.
Salvage Inc. (Ask for Ed, he has a lot of GMC Motor Home parts).
Now that the Onan 6KW generator is running I am considering
parting out the spare I have in the near future. If you need a part contact me
through my support page maybe we can work something out.
