RV Winterizing and Storage

Brought to you by usa on the road

Whoa! It is cold out there!

What about the RV? Did you think of winterizing it before you locked it up for the winter? Going to the cold country in your RV, is it ready? If that water tank freezes it is going to make a big mess when it thaws out, and consider how much it costs to replace it.

So here are some tips and things you need to do to keep things from freezing and breaking.

For winter use of the RV it is recommended by some manufactures that you should not fill your water tank until you arrive at your destination. If the trip is going to be more than a day then at the end of the first day you could fill the water tank, you vehicle should be warmed up sufficiently to keep the water in the tank from freezing. Drain both the water and holding tank before leaving for home.

For the holding tank drain then add the manufacture's recommended non-toxic, non-flammable anti-freeze should be added to the sink and shower traps, also add the recommend amount to the toilet and flush, then add an additional recommended amount to the toilet and leave in the bowl.

Using the anti-freeze should protect the holding tank and the pipes from freezing.
